About the role
The CEFC is Australia’s specialist climate investor, helping cut emissions in the race towards net zero by 2050. With access to more than $33 billion from the Australian Government, we invest to deliver a positive return for taxpayers.
Are you ready to help shape Australia’s clean energy future? Join the CEFC as an Associate, Consumer Finance and play a key role in delivering the Household Energy Upgrades Fund (HEUF) – helping Australians access affordable finance for rooftop solar, batteries, efficient hot water systems and electric vehicles.
This role sits within our Debt Markets platform and combines two equally important dimensions: transaction support across securitisation, structured finance, corporate finance, asset-backed lending, investment mandates and bond investments and data insights and analytics that turn portfolio performance into commercial intelligence for our team and our clients.
From day one, you’ll gain hands-on deal experience, working directly with clients and counterparties rather than sitting behind a deal team. You’ll be part of a flat, hardworking team where the Head of Consumer Finance and Director are genuinely invested in supporting you and your development.
With HEUF now well established, it’s a great point in the fund’s life to join us as we grow the portfolio.
We’re looking for thoughtful, driven professionals who care about sustainability and want to make a real impact. If this opportunity feels like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you, even if your experience looks a little different from what is listed.
The role you’ll play As the Associate, Consumer Finance, you will:
Undertake financial analysis, modelling and due diligence to support consumer finance and HEUF transactionsPrepare investment approval papers and supporting material for the Executive Investment Committee, Board and other committeesSupport deal structuring, documentation and ongoing transaction management across the Debt Markets platformBuild and maintain monthly data dashboards and new transaction analytics in Power BIAnalyse trends in technology adoption, lending criteria and portfolio performance – spanning rooftop solar, behind-the-meter batteries, heat pump hot water, EV chargers etc – and explain what the data means commerciallyWork directly with clients and counterparties across live transactionsContribute across the broader Debt Markets platform, including securitisation, structured finance, corporate finance, asset-backed lending, investment mandate agreements and bond investments
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Two to four years’ experience in securitisation, structured finance or asset-backed lending – gained in a non-bank lender, bank, trust manager or advisory environment. While we welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds, direct securitisation experience is preferred. An understanding of warehouse and term structures, credit support, collateral performance and the mechanics behind a consumer loan bookSound financial analysis and modelling skills, with the attention to detail required for approval papers and due diligenceHands-on Power BI experience building dashboards and reports, or clear evidence you can pick it up quicklyThe ability to read loan performance and technology uptake data and explain what it means commercially, not just report itClear written and verbal communication, with the confidence and initiative for client-facing conversations early onA collaborative, low-ego style, and the ability to manage competing priorities across live transactions and monthly reporting cyclesMaturity, accountability and a genuine interest in household electrification and the energy transition more broadlyRelevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, actuarial studies, mathematics, data analytics or a related discipline
