About the role:
An exciting opportunity is available for enthusiastic and highly motivated Emergency Physicians (FACEMs) to join the Footscray Hospital Emergency Department in a casual capacity, commencing August 2026 or by negotiation.
This role offers flexible opportunities across a seven-day roster, with a variety of morning, afternoon and evening shifts available in accordance with the current Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA). Opportunities are available throughout the week, with clinicians able to support service delivery during peak demand periods, including weekends, particularly welcomed.
The successful applicant will provide expert clinical care to patients within the fast-paced Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the Emergency Department and the broader hospital, the role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality, timely patient care, along with the leadership and professional responsibilities expected of a senior medical clinician.
Footscray Hospital Emergency Department manages more than 55,000 presentations annually and provides comprehensive care for adult patients across a broad spectrum of emergency presentations. As Western Health's major referral centre for Orthopaedic trauma, the department offers exposure to a wide variety of complex and high-acuity presentations.
Located within the new Footscray Hospital, Victoria's newest healthcare developments, the Emergency Department features state-of-the-art facilities and contemporary clinical spaces designed to support exceptional patient care, staff wellbeing and innovative models of service delivery.
The department is structured into several clinical areas, including Resuscitation, Short Stay Unit, Main Cubicles, Fast Track, supported by dedicated Emergency Physician oversight. This role offers the opportunity to work across all areas, providing exposure to a broad and diverse range of emergency presentations while contributing to the delivery of high-quality care for the growing communities of Melbourne's western suburbs.
Most importantly, you will join a highly engaged, approachable and supportive team of Emergency Physicians, nurses and allied health clinicians.
