About the role
Job description:
About the position: We’re looking for Commercial Managers to take a key leadership role on the Snowy 2.0 Project. You’ll oversee all commercial and contractual aspects, managing relationships, ensuring compliance, and strategically navigating claims, variations, and negotiations. This is your chance to make a real impact on one of Australia’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. The role is based in Cooma, with a generous relocation package for those ready to move. Can’t relocate? A FIFO (5:2) roster will also be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities: Lead Contract Negotiations – Use your Quantity Surveying and Cost Management expertise to drive high-impact negotiations with contractors on claims and variations, safeguarding Snowy Hydro’s interests and project objectives. Build Stakeholder Partnerships – Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery. Manage Subcontract Variations – Serve as the go-to contracts expert, managing subcontract variations with clarity, precision, and consistent communication. Resolve Claims and Variations – Strategically balance risk, opportunity, and long-term project goals when resolving claims and variations. Ensure Compliance – Maintain legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance to reduce risk and support proactive decision-making. Risk Management – Identify, assess, and mitigate risks linked to claims, variations, and commercial issues before they escalate. Commercial Reporting & Insights – Provide actionable insights and reporting to senior leadership, translating complex commercial and cost data into strategic guidance. Drive Continuous Improvement – Streamline processes, drive efficiency, and embed best-practice contract and cost management across the team. Team Leadership & Mentorship – Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing commercial and contracts culture. About the location: This role is based in Cooma with FIFO and DIDO options available. About you: You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Law, or a related discipline, backed by extensive senior-level experience in contract administration or management. You’ve built a strong record managing claims and variations on major projects, with exceptional expertise in Quantity Surveying and/or Cost Engineering — particularly in cost management and forecasting. About our workforce: At Snowy 2.0, we live by “One Team Working Together.” If you thrive on problem-solving, love a challenge, and want to make a real difference, this is your chance to join a team shaping the future of renewable energy. Come be part of one of Australia’s most iconic infrastructure projects—apply now and start your Snowy story!
