Bookkeeping Practice Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Bookkeeping Practice Manager to join ONEFOCUS CONSOLIDATED PTY LTD in Melbourne, VIC 3000. This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours with flexibility on days. Offers a unique opportunity to manage our bookkeeping operations whilst maintaining flexibility in your working arrangements. As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our bookkeeping practice, ensuring excellence in service delivery, and driving the growth and profitability of the business. This role is strategically important to our organisation as it directly impacts client satisfaction, team performance, and our competitive position in the marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with the supervision of the bookkeeping team, including recruitment, training, performance management and professional development

• Overseeing client accounts and ensuring timely and accurate completion of bookkeeping services

• Developing and implementing standard operating procedures and best practices across the practice

• Managing client relationships, addressing concerns and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention

• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and professional regulations

• Liaising with external accountants, tax advisors and other professional partners on behalf of clients

• Maintaining and upgrading bookkeeping software and systems to enhance efficiency and service quality

• Preparing management reports on practice performance and recommending improvements

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping (such as CPA, IPA, MYOB or Xero certification) or equivalent professional experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience working in a bookkeeping practice or accounting environment

• Proficiency in bookkeeping software platforms, particularly Xero

• Strong knowledge of Australian tax and accounting compliance requirements

• Excellent financial management and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and produce meaningful reports

• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop staff

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients and colleagues

• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements

• Knowledge of modern bookkeeping practices and emerging technologies in the accounting sector
