GMP is a progressive meat processing business owned and operated by the Barton family in regional New South Wales, Australia. The plant is conveniently located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne on the Hume Highway in the beautiful foothills of the Snowy Mountains which is a prime lamb growing region. 

GMP has long been committed to the region and its people, innovation, and the meat processing industry. The business has recently completed an exciting expansion project to increase annual production capacity, export certification, and increased automation. With the plant’s increased capacity and the spring lamb flush, we are seeing sustainable increased numbers flow through the plant - now’s the time to join the team!

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Clerk to join our Finance Team and contribute to our financial operations. This position will be to cover Maternity Leave on a Fixed-term, 5-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely and accurate manner.

• Maintain supplier and customer account records, ensuring data integrity.

• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies as required.

• Assist with the preparation of payment runs and follow up on outstanding debts.

• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

• Reconcile pallet movement, Chep account, shell card, and other key supplier accounts.

• Reconcile capital expenditure, major R&M, and other project work.

• Assist in month-end closing procedures by reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers with the general ledger.

• Prepare and post accrual entries for outstanding invoices.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports including BAS

• Support the Finance team in maintaining accurate records for audits and compliance.

• Conducting financial investigations, preparing detailed reports, and preparing financial documentation for external and internal audits.

• Posting month end journals in the accounting software for accrued expenses, deferred income, accrued unbilled revenue, prepayments and reversal of previous month’s accruals.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• Minimum Certificate II or III OR one year of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications

• One (1) to two (2) years’ work experience, depending on qualification/s held, in a similar finance position required

• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Excellent computer literacy skills in MS Office and Finance Software systems

• Effective time management skills

• Prioritise work under pressure and to meet deadlines

• Proven ability to calculate and manage financial records
