About the role
Casual, Night Shift
Onsite, Darlinghurst, Sydney, NSW
Reporting to: Nurse Unit Manager
Pay from $46/hr
You are a clinically confident and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a patient‑focused environment and is motivated by contributing to research that makes a real-world impact. You bring strong acute care experience and a high level of professionalism to every shift, with the ability to work independently - particularly during overnight hours. Your attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to best practice ensure safe, high‑quality care for research participants. You are adaptable, organised, and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and hospital staff. Above all, you are passionate about improving outcomes for people living with diabetes and supporting innovative clinical research.
As a Research Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting Type 1 diabetes clinical trials within the Translational Diabetes and Metabolism Lab at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. You will provide direct participant care, conduct clinical assessments, and ensure protocol adherence to support safe and high‑quality research outcomes. The role is primary covering overnight shifts, but there is the option for occasional day shifts to support the needs of the clinical trial. You will be responsible for accurate data collection, participant monitoring, and responding to any clinical concerns in collaboration with the on‑call medical team. This role involves close coordination with investigators, study coordinators, laboratory staff, and St Vincent's Private Hospital nursing teams to ensure smooth study operations. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful research while utilising and expanding your clinical and research skills.
