Our Opportunity: Senior Steel Tekla Drafter  

Currently we are seeking a Senior Steel Tekla Drafter to join our growing team. This critical role will be responsible for ensuring fabrication documentation is delivered accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, fabrication requirements, Australian Standards, and construction programmes.

In this role you will:

• Develop detailed and coordinated TEKLA Structures models for structural steel frameworks and associated components.
• Produce high-quality fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, single-part drawings, erection plans, and bolt schedules.
• Generate NC files, material take-offs, procurement reports, and manufacturing data
• Model complex steelwork across High-rise residential and commercial. transfer structures, atriums and feature steelwork, data centre support structures, plant platforms and service infrastructure, hospital and healthcare facility steel structures
• Review and interpret structural engineering documentation, specifications, and design models.
• Coordinate structural steel models with engineering, BIM, architectural, façade, building services, and construction teams.
• Identify constructability, fabrication, and erection issues and propose practical solutions.
• Liaise directly with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and site personnel to resolve technical queries.
• Conduct detailed self-checking and peer review of TEKLA models and fabrication
• deliverables.
• • Ensure compliance with AS 4100 – Steel Structures, project specifications and client standards, as well as internal quality procedures
• Assist in the development and implementation of detailing standards and best
• practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate drafters.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum 10 years' experience in structural steel fabrication detailing
• Advanced proficiency in TEKLA Structures is essential  
• Extensive experience detailing structural steel for multi-storey commercial towers, hospitals and healthcare facilities, data centres, large commercial and institutional developments
• Exposure to Tier 1 builder projects and major commercial developments would be highly regarded
• Experience coordinating directly with steel fabricators and erection contractors
• Experience with TEKLA custom components, templates, and automation tools.
• Proven ability to deliver complex steel detailing packages from design through to fabrication.
• Ability to interpret structural engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience working within BIM environments and multidisciplinary project teams.
