About the role
About the role
We are looking for an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our team and provide practical, site-based support across our construction projects.
This is a site-focused role where you’ll work closely with the HSEQ Manager, Project Managers, Site Managers, supervisors, workers and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture, manage risk and ensure our HSEQ systems are embedded and operating effectively in practice.
You’ll be closely embedded with the project team, working primarily on a major multi-unit residential development and providing HSEQ support from site commencement through to completion.
You’ll be someone who is comfortable working on site, having conversations with people, identifying risks and finding practical solutions. While compliance and reporting are important, we’re looking for someone who can influence positive behaviours and help our teams work safely and efficiently.
What you’ll be doing
Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to project and operational teams.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, walkthroughs and task observations.
Identify hazards, assess risks and support the implementation of effective controls.
Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, SWMS, project plans, procedures and client requirements.
Participate in the development and review of SWMS and risk assessments.
Assist with incident, injury and near-miss investigations, including identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Monitor and follow up corrective actions, non-conformances and improvement initiatives.
Deliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks, safety meetings and consultation activities.
Coach workers, supervisors and subcontractors in safe work practices and positive safety behaviours.
Monitor subcontractor HSEQ compliance and site standards.
Support emergency preparedness, PPE, permits and high-risk work activities.
Maintain HSEQ registers, records and reporting requirements.
Assist with audits, compliance activities and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems.
Escalate significant risks and issues and exercise stop-work authority where there is an immediate risk to health, safety or the environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be organised, proactive and confident working with people at all levels of a construction project. You’ll enjoy being hands-on, getting out on site and finding practical solutions to HSEQ challenges.
We are looking for:
3+ years’ experience in an HSEQ/WHS role, preferably within building and construction.
Experience conducting site inspections, audits, investigations and risk assessments.
A sound understanding of WHS legislation and its practical application on construction sites.
Experience delivering inductions, toolbox talks and safety communications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with everyone from workers and subcontractors through to project management.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
The ability to prioritise, manage deadlines and follow issues through to completion.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
A practical and solutions-focused approach to HSEQ.
