Your Opportunity

Our Early Years Centres are community hubs offering child health services, supported playgroups, family support and early childhood education. We focus on early intervention and prevention to ultimately empower children and families. We are a supportive, multidisciplinary team with a broad range of early childhood teachers and educators, social workers, child health nurses and allied health qualified professionals committed to high quality work providing wrap around early intervention services.

We work across our Gold Coast hubs located in Nerang, Coomera, Coolangatta and Labrador. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working closely with colleagues and community partners to empower children and families to achieve their goals, this role is for you.

How You Will Contribute

• Act as the first point of contact, providing timely advice, intake, triage, information and referrals by phone, virtually or in person.
• Undertake comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, identify strengths and needs, and develop, monitor and review short-term client plans.
• Engage children and families using age- and situation-appropriate approaches, including risk-minimisation where there are child protection, family violence or other safety concerns.
• Support clients to make informed choices and access appropriate resources through intervention, referral and advocacy.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, key agencies, service providers and referral networks.
• Where required, plan, develop and facilitate or co-facilitate service-related groups and workshops.

Your Skills and Experience

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you'll have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, human services or a related discipline, and a current driver's licence.
• Demonstrated experience in intake, triage, comprehensive assessment, referral and short-term support for children, young people and families, including complex or crisis situations.
• Strong understanding of child development, early learning and school engagement, and the factors influencing outcomes for children and families.
• Sound knowledge of risk assessment, child protection, domestic and family violence, mental health and trauma, including their impact on children's behaviour and development.
• Ability to quickly identify client needs and appropriate referral pathways, and respond effectively in high-pressure environments; knowledge of local services and supports is highly regarded.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, liaison and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
