CA Gen Developer / CA Gen Technical Lead

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced CA Gen Developer / CA Gen Technical Lead with strong hands-on experience in CA Gen 8.x / CoolGen and Mainframe technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for application development, enhancements, maintenance, production support, release activities, and technical coordination with development and client teams.

The role requires strong experience in CA Gen development, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 SQL, and related CA Gen tools, along with the ability to work effectively in an Agile delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using CA Gen / CoolGen, preferably CA Gen 8.6.

• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into CA Gen solutions.

• Perform enhancement development, coding, unit testing and defect fixing.

• Work on COBOL, JCL, CICS and DB2 SQL changes as required.

• Prepare technical/design specifications and unit test plans.

• Perform CA Gen model, release and module migration activities.

• Manage pre- and post-release code synchronization and deployment activities.

• Use GuardIEn and version-control tools for code migration and release management.

• Monitor and support batch jobs and resolve ABENDs and production issues.

• Provide application and production support, including on-call support when required.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, estimation, planning and delivery activities.

• Interact with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve issues.

• Prepare project status reports and provide regular delivery updates.

• Mentor junior developers and support knowledge-transfer activities.

• Coordinate development and AMS activities and ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in CA Gen / CoolGen development.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

• Strong hands-on experience with CA Gen 8.x, preferably CA Gen 8.6.

• Good knowledge of COBOL, JCL and CICS.

• Strong understanding of DB2 SQL / relational databases.

• Experience with GuardIEn or similar CA Gen migration/version-management tools.

• Experience in Mainframe environments including z/OS.

• Experience with batch processing, JCL, job monitoring and ABEND resolution.

• Understanding of SDLC, application maintenance and production support.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Report Composer.

• Exposure to Azure DevOps / DevOps tools.

• Experience with Git, Jenkins, Docker or Kubernetes.

• Experience in Healthcare, Insurance, Manufacturing or Logistics domains.

• Previous experience in a Technical Lead / Team Lead role.

• Experience managing AMS teams and coordinating application releases.
