Are you an experienced terminal operations professional with a passion for safety, leadership and operational excellence?
United Terminals Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Shift Team Leader (24/7) or Team Leader Shift Relief to join our high-performing Operations team at our Hastings Terminal.
This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical leadership role within a Major Hazard Facility (MHF), ensuring the safe and efficient operation of one of Australia's key fuel terminals while leading people, managing risk and driving operational excellence.

United Terminals Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of United Petroleum Pty Ltd and operates fuel terminals across Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland.
Our terminals are Major Hazard Facilities operating under stringent regulatory requirements, where safety, environmental responsibility and operational reliability are at the forefront of everything we do.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Terminal Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Hastings Terminal on a 24/7 rotating roster.
As the senior operational representative outside normal business hours, you will provide leadership across terminal operations, emergency response, contractor management, maintenance coordination and compliance activities while ensuring all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with our Major Hazard Facility Safety Case.
For the Team Leader Shift Relief position, you will also coordinate shift coverage across the 24/7 roster and provide operational support during planned and unplanned leave.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
Leading safe day-to-day terminal operations across a 24/7 rotating roster
Acting as the management representative outside normal business hours
Promoting and maintaining an exceptional safety culture
Coordinating emergency response activities and acting as the first point of contact for emergency services
Supervising contractors and shipping operations
Managing road tanker loading and unloading activities
Coordinating pipeline, jetty and fuel storage operations
Ensuring compliance with Major Hazard Facility legislation, environmental obligations and company procedures
Managing permits to work and site isolations
Supporting maintenance planning and ensuring safety-critical maintenance activities are completed
Coaching, mentoring and assessing operational personnel
Conducting inductions, competency assessments and operational training
Completing operational reporting, stock control and shift documentation
Supporting aviation fuel quality compliance and JIG standards
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
To succeed in this role you will ideally have:
Demonstrated experience in fuel terminal, petroleum, oil & gas, chemical processing or other high-risk industrial operations
Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a 24/7 operational environment
Strong understanding of Major Hazard Facility (MHF) operations or similar regulated industries
Experience managing contractors and coordinating operational activities
Knowledge of Permit to Work systems and safe work practices
Experience with emergency response and incident management
Strong communication and decision-making skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to compliance
The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound operational decisions
A genuine commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Experience in aviation fuel quality systems, shipping operations or pipeline operations will be highly regarded.
