Civil Works Engineers is a Brisbane-based civil engineering consultancy specialising in land development and subdivision projects across South East Queensland. We deliver high-quality stormwater, drainage, civil design, and infrastructure solutions for residential and commercial development clients. We are looking for an experienced Stormwater/Civil Engineer to join our team at our Rocklea office. This is a technically focused role where stormwater design is the primary discipline. You will work closely with our managing engineer to deliver stormwater management reports, drainage designs, and civil drawing packages for development approval (DA) submissions across Queensland councils.

We are flexible on hours — we will consider candidates seeking part-time arrangements (minimum 25 hours per week) through to full-time. If you are the right person, we will make it work.

●        Prepare Stormwater Management Reports including water quality and quantity calculations and hydrological modelling

●        Design stormwater drainage systems — pipes, open channels, detention basins, and water quality treatment devices

●        Prepare civil design drawings and specifications covering earthworks, sediment and erosion control, road geometry, pavement design, sewerage reticulation, and water reticulation

●        Confirm project scope and review data requirements promptly on job commencement

●        Prepare, check, and review concept and detailed designs, reports, and calculations

●        Report to the manager weekly on job progress, hours, and completed work

●        Proactively communicate with clients throughout the project lifecycle

●        Comply with Civil Works Engineers Business Management Systems, and Environmental, WH&S requirements

Essential:

●        Minimum 2 years' experience in stormwater/civil design within a land development or consultancy environment

●        Solid working knowledge of stormwater quality and quantity design principles

●        Experience with MUSIC, WBNM, or similar stormwater modelling software

●        Proficiency in AutoCAD for civil drafting

●        Experience preparing Stormwater Management Reports and drainage design calculations

●        Ability to manage your own workload and deliver to deadlines

●        Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

●        Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

●        Familiarity with Queensland council requirements (Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, or similar)

●        Experience with sewerage and water reticulation design

●        Pavement design experience (flexible and rigid)

●        Flexible hours — part-time (minimum 25 hrs/week) to full-time considered

●        Office-based role in Rocklea, with easy access from across Brisbane
