At Carers SA, you’ll join a professional team that values your contribution, supports work-life balance, and is committed to maintaining a child-safe environment.
About the Role
As the Team Leader – Young Carer Services, you will lead and support a team of Young Carer Connectors (across South Australia) to deliver high-quality, strengths-based support to Young Carers aged 5–26. You will oversee intake, assessment, and connection to supports, ensuring services are delivered in line with program guidelines and a “resolution at first point of contact” approach.

Working closely with the Program Manager, you will also drive continuous improvement, strengthen partnerships with schools, youth services and community organisations, and support initiatives that increase awareness and engagement with Young Carers across South Australia.
This is a full-time maternity leave contract through to 30 June 2027, offering an opportunity to step into a key leadership role within Young Carer Services.

Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, youth services and community partners
Support outreach, engagement and awareness activities to identify and connect with Young Carers
Monitor service quality through data, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with child protection, safeguarding, WHS and service delivery standards
About You
You will be a confident and values-driven leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. You’ll bring strong leadership capability, emotional intelligence, and the ability to guide teams through complex and sensitive situations.
You will also have:
Experience leading or supervising teams within youth, community or human services
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing young people and families
Demonstrated experience in child protection, safeguarding and working with complex cases
Ability to lead with empathy, build capability, and foster a positive team culture
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong decision-making skills and ability to work under pressure
Experience using data and reporting to monitor service quality and outcomes
Desirable:

Knowledge of youth services, education systems and community support
Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or similar
You will also have:
A current DHS Working with Children Check
A National Police Check
Mandatory child protection training (or willingness to complete)
Why Join Us?
At Carers SA, you will be supported to do meaningful work in a culturally safe and empowering environment in a culturally safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace.
You’ll also benefit from:
Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free
