About the role
Katherine – Commencing by Late September 2026
Ward Keller is one of the Northern Territory's leading law firms, with offices across the Territory and a long-standing reputation for providing practical, timely and high-quality legal services.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Law Clerk / Front Office Administrator to join our Katherine office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a law student to gain valuable practical experience in a busy regional legal practice while continuing their legal studies. Preference will be given to applicants who are currently studying a Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent).
As the first point of contact for our clients, you will provide front office and administrative support while gaining exposure to a broad range of legal matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
welcoming clients and visitors
answering and directing telephone enquiries professionally
managing appointments and diaries
maintaining electronic and physical files
assisting with legal and administrative tasks
preparing daily follow-up and task lists
processing monthly billing
receiving and distributing mail and deliveries
ordering office supplies and coordinating office administration
assisting lawyers and paralegals with document preparation, scanning, copying and correspondence
preparing meeting facilities and refreshments where required
complying with the firm's workplace health and safety procedures.
As your experience develops, you will have opportunities to assist our legal team with a range of legal matters and build practical skills relevant to your studies.
You will ideally:
be currently studying a Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent)
have excellent written and verbal communication skills
demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn
possess strong organisational and time management skills
have excellent attention to detail
have sound Microsoft Office skills
enjoy working with clients and as part of a collaborative team
present professionally and provide exceptional client service.
Previous legal or administrative experience is advantageous but not essential. Full training will be provided.
