About the role
Gold Coast, Queensland | Full time | $48 to $60/hr + super + leading hand allowance
Think you're one of the best? Keep reading.
We're not after bodies. We're after weapons.
We're looking for two senior composite technicians who've put in the years, know their craft cold, have opinions worth listening to and are ready to lead a team, not just laminate.
Still learning your craft? Respect. Come back when you're ready.
Or rock up at the door and prove us wrong.
Ambition goes a long way around here.
Still here? Let's talk.
Who we areHybrid Composites doesn't do the work other shops turn away. We do the work they can't do.
Rapid tooling, prototyping, small batch production and genuine development work across marine and superyacht, architecture, defence, motorsport, industrial and emerging technology.
One shop. Start to finish.
Concept. Design. Engineering. CNC machining. Tooling. Composite manufacture. Finished part.
From an idea to something real, under one roof.
Every job is different. Very little is repetitive. Some of what comes through our doors hasn't been done in Australia before.
Recent and current work includes:
Large scale architectural composite structures
High quality production FRP tooling
Rapid prototype and development tooling
Small batch composite production runs
Superyacht composite components
CNC machined plugs, patterns and moulds
3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining
Large format 3D printing
One off engineered composite structures
Product development from CAD through to finished part
We're building a team for the difficult work.
Not people who just want another composites job.
People who want to solve problems, build things that haven't existed before and help grow advanced composite manufacturing in Australia.
The roleWe're a small team. That's deliberate.
It means everyone's contribution is visible, and the people leading the floor genuinely shape how we build.
You'll be on the tools.
You'll also be running work.
Laminate and finish to a standard people talk about across infusion, vacuum bagging, wet layup, prepreg and oven cure
Build plugs, moulds and tooling, including finishing CNC machined tooling
Read the drawings, read the laminate schedule, set the job out and own the outcome
Plan the day, allocate the work and keep the crew moving
Hold the quality line through QA, first off approvals and having the guts to call rework when something isn't right
Work with design and CNC rather than waiting for someone else to solve the problem
Teach what you know and bring the younger hands up behind you
That last one matters.
We're not interested in having all that experience locked up in one person's head.
Part of being a leader here is making the people around you better.
You get the autonomy. You carry the outcome.
The Hybrid production leadership seat is open.
We're hiring two senior people, and we're not pre deciding who leads it.
If you're the right person, it's yours to earn.
Who we're afterSerious hands on composite experience.
Marine, aerospace, motorsport, industrial. We don't particularly care where you got it.
We care whether you can do the work.
You should be strong across multiple methods rather than just the one you learned first.
Capable with tooling, plugs, moulds, patterns and finish.
Confident reading technical drawings and laminate schedules.
You've probably led or supervised people before.
More importantly, you've developed the judgement to know when something isn't right and the backbone to say so.
Prepreg, oven or autoclave experience is great.
CNC and digital fabrication exposure, forklift and EWP tickets and trade qualifications are all valuable too.
But we're hiring the person, not collecting tickets.
Australian work rights and a current White Card are required.
The attitude testSkill gets you the interview. Attitude gets you the job.
We want people who take ownership, teach freely, admit mistakes early, chase better ways of doing things and lift the crew around them.
Ego doesn't impress us.
Neither does being the operator who does brilliant work but makes everyone else's day harder.
The best people we've worked with are weapons on the tools and good humans to have beside you when the pressure is on.
That's the standard.
What you get backGenuinely interesting work
Development jobs, one offs and problems nobody's solved yet
A seriously well equipped facility right on the water at GCCM
3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining
Large format 3D printing
Robotics and digital fabrication under the same roof
An in house design team you can actually work with
Real responsibility from day one
A direct path to a leadership seat, not a vague promise of one
Training and development for people who want to keep getting better
A growing business with serious work ahead of it
The opportunity to help build something bigger than the next job
We're ambitious about where this goes.
If you are too, you'll fit in.
The money$48 to $60 an hour plus super, with a leading hand allowance on top.
We don't expect everyone who applies to be worth $60 an hour.
But if you are, we're prepared to pay it.
The top end is for a genuine weapon.
Someone who can run work, lead a crew, read the drawings and laminate schedule, solve problems before they become problems, hold the quality line and make the people around them better.
At $60 an hour, standard hours puts you at about $118,500 a year before super.
Add overtime and there's plenty of earning potential from there.
No buried hours. No salary that quietly swallows your Saturdays. You work it, we pay it.
And if you reckon you're worth more than that, tell us why.
We'll listen.
Good people pay for themselves and we know it.
How to applySend your resume and tell us what you've built.
Even better, send us photos.
We'd rather see the work you're proud of than read three paragraphs telling us you're a hard worker.
And if resumes aren't really your thing, rock up and introduce yourself.
We're looking for experience. But we'll always make time for ambition.
