Joining the business provides the chance to contribute to the local maritime industry and develop skills in modern shipbuilding practices.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Welder role located in Hobart, TAS. The Welder will prepare and fabricate aluminium metal components for marine vessels, following technical drawings, specifications, and welding procedures. Daily tasks include setting up welding equipment, performing various welding operations, inspecting welds for quality and safety, and working closely with fabricators, fitters, and supervisors to complete projects on schedule. The Welder will also assist with material handling, basic maintenance of tools and equipment, and adherence to workplace health and safety standards and company policies.QualificationsCandidates should possess core welding skills, including Welding, Arc Welding, and experience working to defined procedures and standards.Candidates should possess advanced process skills such as TIG Welding and MIG Welding for a range of marine fabrication tasks.Candidates should possess knowledge of Materials, including properties of common shipbuilding metals and appropriate welding techniques.Relevant trade qualification or certification in welding, fabrication, or a related field is highly beneficial.Experience in marine or heavy industrial fabrication, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, is desirable.Strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented workshop environment.Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in varying positions.
