Trades Assistant

Metroid Electrical Engineering is a growing family business building custom electrical switchboards for infrastructure projects across Australia, and a certified Great Place to Work™!

We are seeking practical and motivated people to join our production team, to perform light fabrication work and mechanical/electrical assembly on electrical switchboards.

No electrical experience required, all tools and training provided.

Successful applicants will bring:

• Experience with hand and power tools, e.g. drills, grinders, saws

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong work ethic - ability to maintain a fast and consistent pace

• Light fabrication and basic welding skills an advantage

• Experience in a factory environment an advantage

What you'll be doing:

• Sheetmetal fabrication - light fabrication in aluminium, stainless, mild steel and perspex, running our laser cutter, brake press and other sheetmetal machinery

• Finishing - prepping cabinets for powdercoating, powdercoating, and assembling the finished cabinets

• Assembly - fitting chassis, doors, brackets etc, mounting switchgear onto geartrays ready for wiring, fabricating and assembling copper busbars, and basic wiring

• Everything else - building pallets and crates, and pitching into continuous improvement projects around the factory

You'll be trained across all of it. You'll start on one area and pick up the rest as you go.
