About the role
We are seeking experienced First Class Welders to join our growing team at our Dandenong South facility in Victoria. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge welding techniques and contribute to significant projects in the fabrication industry. As a First Class Welder, you will be at the forefront of our operations, utilising your expertise to deliver precision work that meets stringent quality specifications. This role is integral to maintaining Shearform's reputation for excellence and ensuring project timelines are met consistently.
Key responsibilities
Perform welding operations and previous experience in Flux Cored Welding techniques to join metal components to specification and to Xray Quality
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication
Inspect completed welds to verify quality, strength, and adherence to industry standards and client specifications
Prepare metal surfaces through grinding, cutting, and cleaning to ensure optimal welding conditions
Operate and maintain welding equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting minor issues
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within quality requirements
Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe work practices
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying efficiency opportunities and suggesting enhancements
What we're looking for
First Class Welders with experience in X Ray quality welds with Flux Cored Welding
Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified welder in commercial or industrial fabrication environments
Proficiency in MIG welding
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail
Solid understanding of health and safety requirements and best practices in welding operations
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including working in various positions and lifting materials
Reliability, punctuality, and a professional approach to work
Experience with boilermaking or pressure vessel fabrication is highly desirable
Knowledge of relevant Australian welding standards and codes of practice is advantageous
