About The Role

We are seeking a Lawyer or Senior Associate to join our construction team. You will provide our clients with relevant construction related legal advice and will focus on a broad cross section of work spanning both front end and back end construction matters.

Responsibilities

Assist in the prosecution of and defence of claims under the Security of Payment Act nationally and assist in the conduct of litigated claims, and advise generally in connection with the enforcement of and defence of claims arising under construction contracts.Providing contract administration advice to assist our clients with the delivery of their projects.Drafting construction contracts based onamended Australian standard forms of contract; andbespoke forms of contractReview construction contracts and recommend amendments to those contracts to better reflect our clients' risk profile and industry standards including modified Australian standard form of contracts and bespoke contractsDrafting consultancy agreements and related documents including deeds of novation, deeds of assignment and early contractor involvement deedsLiaising with clients, practice groups, opposing lawyers and other stakeholdersCollaborating with senior practitioners and other team membersDelegating work and providing instructions to lawyers and administrative supportMentoring and coaching lawyers to support their developmentSupporting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotationsRetaining and building business

About You

Tertiary qualification in LawCurrent Practising Certificate for relevant jurisdictionMinimum 3 years' PAE working principally in constructionExperience in both back end and front end construction mattersCritical reasoning and analytical skills with the ability to think laterallyLegal drafting expertiseEffective and timely file management and billing abilityA highly developed customer service ethicProven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholdersExcellent influencing and negotiation capabilityStrong verbal and written communication skillsHighly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deliverablesThe ability to lead, supervise, mentor and delegateProven ability to facilitate presentations and meetings with varying sizes of groups of people
