About the role
We’re seeking a foster carer who can support a shy, sensitive cat as they settle into a safe and predictable home environment. This role is perfect for someone who understands that confidence grows slowly, and who can offer patience, routine, and gentle encouragement.
Our shy cats often start off very reserved. They may hide, keep their distance, or take time to feel comfortable with new people and spaces. They respond well to treats and positive reinforcement, and one‑on‑one care is especially helpful in the early days while they learn that they’re safe.
Cuddles aren’t usually their thing, and that’s okay — they show connection in quieter ways. Play is often how they begin to engage, especially with wand toys or simple treat‑searching games. Once they feel secure, their personality starts to unfold and they become more interactive.
Routine is important for these cats. A calm, predictable environment helps them feel grounded and reduces stress. With time, many shy cats will mix well with other cats. When they’ve built confidence, they’re often happy to chase, wrestle, and even curl up with a feline friend.
We’re looking for a foster carer who can offer:
- a quiet, stable home
- patience and understanding
- gentle one‑on‑one support to start with
- a predictable routine
- willingness to let the cat set the pace
- enrichment through play and and treats
- slow, supported introductions to other cats if present
This role is perfect for someone who finds joy in helping a shy cat learn to trust and who can offer a safe space for them to grow. Your care will make an enormous difference — helping them feel secure enough to show their playful, gentle nature and preparing them for their future forever home.
If you’re someone who values calm, steady progress and loves seeing a shy cat blossom in their own time, we’d love to hear from you.
