About the role
Ahrens Mining & Industrial Services is seeking experienced Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitters to join our team on a major long-term shutdown and maintenance project.
Specifically:
Shutdown 1: We welcome applications from anyone who would be available to start immediately.
Shutdown 2: 09 September – 14 October 2026.
You can expect:
Hourly rate + site allowance paid + overtime penalties
Weekly pay
Rostered 12-hour day shifts and nightshifts

As a Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter, you will play an important role in delivering safe, reliable and efficient maintenance services while supporting the ongoing operation of critical fixed plant equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform maintenance, repairs and servicing on a range of fixed plant equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, hydraulics and conveyor systems.
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out breakdown repairs.
Dismantle, inspect, repair, assemble and align mechanical equipment.
Complete preventative maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability.
Identify and manage mechanical hazards and ensure equipment remains safe for operation.
Remove defective equipment from service and coordinate repairs where required.
Complete maintenance reporting and documentation accurately on a daily basis.
Work collaboratively with supervisors and maintenance teams while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality and productivity.
Previous fixed plant maintenance experience within mining, industrial or heavy industry environments.
Previous fixed plant maintenance experience within mining, industrial or heavy industry environments.
Construction White Card.
Current Australian Manual Driver's Licence.
Working at Heights (within 3 years).
Confined Space (within 3 years).
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and teamwork.
