Role Description

As the Configuration Management Officer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining CM activities across the full project lifecycle. Acting as the primary point of contact for CM-related matters, you will ensure configuration control processes are effectively implemented and maintained while supporting engineering, project, and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and maintain CM activities across all project stages, recording and maintaining product hierarchies and identifiers within baseline documentation.
• Act as Secretary to the Configuration Control Board (CCB), circulating paperwork, scheduling meetings, and ensuring change processes are successfully completed.
• Maintain a detailed inventory of assets, including operating system versions, patch statuses, and installed applications.
• Collaborate with IT and administration staff to maintain and improve the CM system, including library environments, access privileges, and backups.
• Establish requirements for supplier delivery of data products, document timely receipts, and assess data acceptability.
• Perform physical and functional audits of systems and software to verify compliance with established baselines, providing input to the Quality Manager.

Key Skills & Attributes

• Configuration & Data Management: Deep functional knowledge of CM and Data Management principles and their associated tools.
• IT & Engineering Acumen: Proficiency in IT combined with a solid understanding of project and engineering management lifecycles.
• Analytical Problem-Solving: A structured and analytical approach to problem identification and resolution.
• Meticulous Precision: Exceptional attention to detail when planning and performing all configuration tasks.
• Communication & Collaboration: The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, working effectively on your own, within the team, and with external agencies or subcontractors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Security Clearance: Must hold an active NV1 Australian Defence security clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience using mature/commercial CM tools within an engineering lifecycle environment.
• Technical Exposure: 2+ years of experience supporting the delivery of complex systems containing software.
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, IT, or a related field is highly regarded, alongside prior Defence Industry experience.
