The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Programs Officer to provide a critical role within the Transition and Reintegration Unit.
About the Business Unit
The Reintegration and Engagement Services Division forms part of Corrections Victoria (CV) and is responsible for delivering evidence-based, best practice interventions that contribute to reducing reoffending and improving community safety. This includes quality assurance systems for risk assessment and case management, the delivery of clinical intervention programs and transition and reintegration supports. The Division also has responsibility for the operation of Victoria's post-sentence scheme - a civil, non-punitive scheme that provides for the ongoing supervision or detention of individuals convicted of a serious sex and/or violent offence who have completed their sentence but present an unacceptable risk of committing further serious offences.
The Offender Services and Reintegration (OSR) Division sits within the broader Reintegration and Engagement Services Division and is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including case management, education, training and employment, prison industries and rehabilitation and reintegration support. The division contributes to a safer community by supporting a safe and humane corrections system that provides opportunities for rehabilitation, supports reintegration and works toward Aboriginal self-determination.
The Rehabilitation and Reintegration Branch (Branch) sits within the OSR Division and is responsible for a range of programs and services across both prisons and Community Correctional Services. These programs include transition and reintegration, parenting and family engagement, women, disability, youth, family violence programs and services.
The Transition and Reintegration Unit (TRU), sits within the Branch and oversees, supports, and continuously improves programs and services that sit within the CV Reintegration Pathway.
About the Role
The Programs Officer role is responsible for the oversight of reintegration and transition services and programs. This includes overseeing contractual and service delivery compliance and proactively working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The role is responsible for responding to emerging issues to ensure a high level of responsiveness to strategic, operational, and service demands as well as actively contributing to, and informing the continuous improvement of services to ensure best practice is maintained.
