About the role
Glen Forrest Medical Centre is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly team. This is a part-time position, initially two and half days per week plus holiday and sick relief, with the view to increasing hours early in 2027.
Key responsibilities
Perform clinical duties within required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence
Explain procedures to patients, providing them with support and reassurance
Conduct triage, immunisations and other injections, wound management, chronic disease management, ECGs and collection of pathology samples
Assist doctors with clinical procedures
Maintain clinical documentation
Assist with patient triage, data management, diagnostic services, networking with other providers, planning and management of patient care and patient advocacy
Telephone patients with test results as directed by medical staff
Conduct preventative and screening procedures and assist with patient education and community health promotion activities
Co-ordinate patient recall and outreach programs, GP management plans and team care arrangements
Ensure sterilisation and maintenance of clinical equipment and maintain stocks of clinical supplies
About you
Currently registered with AHPRA
Current immunisation Certificate with annual updates, current CPR
Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in a general medical or surgical nursing role
Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and interest in community-based nursing including patient education and health promotion
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all ages and social groups
Demonstrated patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs
Ability to work cooperatively and independently with ability to prioritise and organise, with attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Physical ability to occasionally lift and/or move patients
