Locum Paediatric Anatomical Pathologist
About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time position for 12 months at up to 1.0 FTE / 80 hours per fortnight within the Department of Anatomical Pathology. There will be the potential for this position to transition to an ongoing appointment subject to meeting performance targets.
You will contribute to all aspects of the diagnostic service as a member of the Anatomical Paediatric Pathology Team and be responsible for providing excellent clinical service including the reporting of a range of paediatric pathology specimens from all organ systems. You may have experience in public hospital anatomical pathology, transplant pathology and/or paediatric pathology however applicants with all levels of experience are still encouraged to apply.
What you’ll achieve:
Classification for this position will range from Specialist Year 1 to senior Specialist Year 9 HM33-HM41 (base salary $262,999 to $361,629 per annum, plus superannuation)

About the Department of Anatomical Pathology at Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH)
We are a paediatric service based at the Royal Children’s Hospital that will be working under a Melbourne Health-led pathology service from late 2026 and provide specialist paediatric histopathology, reporting around 6000 cases per year.

The Victorian Department of Health has endorsed the initiative to restructure existing public pathology by bringing together laboratories into pathology networks operating under a lead health service. Pathology services from the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and the Royal Melbourne Hospital will come together to strengthen the scope, scale, and reach of pathology services across the Parkville precinct to benefit all Victorians. This role will be part of the new centre of excellence that will be led and employed by Melbourne Health. The network will provide new opportunities for training and collaboration across the Parkville hospitals and more broadly across Victoria.
