The Opportunity

Partnered with our host, Johnson Controls, we are seeking two Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentices to join their team based on the Sunshine Coast.

Some travel and working away from home will be required, predominately servicing commercial clients in the Hervey Bay region.

Positions available:

• 1st Year Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentice
• 2nd or 3rd Year Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentice – great opportunity to build on your existing commercial knowledge and experience

These apprenticeships offers hands-on experience while completing your UEE32225 Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

You will work alongside experienced tradespeople to gain practical, hands-on experience in HVAC maintenance, repairs and installation across large commercial facilities.

Day-to-day, you will assist with servicing, fault finding, planned maintenance, repairs and installation tasks on large HVAC equipment.

This role offers the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified professional in this specialised trade.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with HVAC maintenance, repairs and installation on large commercial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment
• Service and maintain both new and existing units to ensure optimal performance
• Use general hand tools and industry-specific tooling under supervision
• Support fault finding, servicing and repairs while developing trade knowledge and safe work habits
• Travel locally to and from worksites each day, with some away-from-home work required
• Follow instructions, maintain tidy work areas and complete tasks in line with safety requirements
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities

Hours and travel: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

This role involves travelling locally to and from worksites day-to-day and may include early morning starts and occasional weekend work. Overtime may be required depending on project demands.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
• A valid driver licence and reliable vehicle is required as the main worksite is not accessible by public transport
• Reliable, hardworking, physically fit and committed to working safely
• Enjoys working with their hands and has a genuine interest in learning the HVAC trade
• Logical thinker with a practical approach to problem solving
• Completion of a Certificate II in Electrotechnology or a related field, highly advantageous
• Current Construction White Card, or ability to obtain one
• Ability to pass a Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screen, and Police Check
