About the role
Seven houses. Thirty-five participants. All within a few suburbs of each other.
That last detail matters more than it sounds. It means you can be in three homes before lunch and still be back for a support plan review. It means you actually know every participant by name, know which staff work well in which house, and can pick up on a change in someone before it shows up in an incident report. Most SIL leadership roles in Sydney involve a car, a toll tag and a lot of the M4. This one doesn't.
We're a growing NDIS provider, and we're looking for someone senior to take practice leadership across the whole portfolio.
The roleThis is a hybrid of team leadership and practice leadership — you'll be responsible for both how the teams run and how well we support people.
On the operational side: leading and supervising house teams, rosters and Rosters of Care, on-call escalation, staffing decisions, and holding the line on documentation quality.
On the practice side: coaching support workers in the moment, in the home. Making sure behaviour support plans are actually being implemented rather than filed. Working alongside behaviour support practitioners, allied health and support coordinators. Leading incident review so it produces a change in practice, not just a report. Driving the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.
The practice half is the part we care most about, and the part most providers quietly under-resource.
What you'll actually spend your time onCoaching and supervising team leaders and support workers across seven homes — largely in the homes, not from a desk
Implementing and monitoring positive behaviour support plans; building staff capability to deliver them consistently
Restrictive practice oversight — authorisation, reporting, and a genuine reduction strategy
Incident management, reportable incidents, and closing the loop on what we learn
Embedding the new SIL Practice Standards (in effect since 1 July 2026) into how we work day to day, not just into our policy folder
Participant compatibility, co-tenant safeguarding, and the hard conversations about who lives well with whom
Working with families, guardians, support coordinators and clinicians as the consistent, reliable point of contact
Building the supervision, training and reflective practice rhythms that keep good staff here
We work from a trauma-informed framework, and we mean it operationally — in how we design shifts, how we debrief after a difficult night, how we talk about behaviour in team meetings, and how we treat our own staff. We're looking for someone who can hold that line when a team is tired and the easier explanation is that someone is "being difficult."
If you've had to explain to a staff member why a behaviour makes complete sense given someone's history, and then help them change how they respond, this role will suit you.
Who we're looking forSignificant experience leading teams in SIL or supported accommodation, including complex support needs
Strong working knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards, restrictive practice obligations, and reportable incidents
Demonstrated experience implementing positive behaviour support plans and lifting staff capability to deliver them
The judgement to make good decisions at 10pm on a Saturday, and the systems thinking to stop the same problem recurring
Genuine skill in supervision and coaching — you get more out of people by developing them than directing them
Diploma or degree in social work, psychology, community services, disability, Nursing or a related field (Certificate IV plus substantial senior experience will be considered)
Real progression. We're growing, and we're deliberately building the senior layer now rather than after it breaks. As the portfolio expands, this role is the natural pathway into service management or a head of practice function. We'd rather promote you than advertise again.
Genuine influence. You'll be shaping practice frameworks, supervision models and training — not inheriting someone else's and administering it.
A geographic patch that works. Seven sites close together, so your day is spent with people rather than in traffic.
Above-award salary, salary packaging, and a real commitment to your own professional development and external supervision.
Senior support. Direct access to the leadership team. Decisions get made quickly here.
What we won't pretendWe're growing, which means some systems are still being built — you'll be helping to build them. Some weeks are harder than others, and some of our participants have significant, complex needs. If you want a role where the framework is finished and the job is maintenance, this isn't it. If you want to build something and put your name on it, it is.
