The role of the Learning Enhancement Education Assistant will be to support and assist high school aged students with disability. The Learning Enhancement Education Assistant will also assist subject specialist teachers through the delivery of planned and coordinated programs tailored for the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of all students including those with specific learning needs or disability. The Education Assistant will require a qualification of Certificate IV (Education Support). Alternatively, applicants who are pursuing tertiary studies, particularly with Education, Science and Mathematics majors, would be considered favourably.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to:
Assist teachers with the preparation for, and supervision of, students, including those with special needs, in class activities
Support teachers in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students
Assist teachers in the delivery of the planned teaching and learning programs to achieve the best outcomes for our students who have special learning needs
Assist teachers with the preparation of teaching aids, materials, and other resources which will be used to support the learning of students who have special learning needs
Understand the Disability Standards for Education and an awareness of obligations under the DDA
Provide feedback to the classroom teacher so they can effectively report and communicate with parents
Be fully supportive of the Catholic ethos and the Presentation traditions and practices of the College
Possess competent knowledge of IT skills
The successful applicant will also have a warm and welcoming disposition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability for self-directed work, flexibility, resourcefulness and excellent attention to detail.
