Chef / Cook (Indian style preferable)

About the role

We are seeking a talented Chef / Cook with knowledge of Indian style cooking, also broad range of meals including roast meats and vegetable, pastas etc.to join our team at IGA East Perth, a well-established hospitality business based in East Perth, WA 6004. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst contributing to our dynamic kitchen environment. As a Chef / Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining the exceptional culinary standards that our customers expect. This position is integral to our hospitality operations, ensuring that every dish prepared meets our strict quality and presentation standards.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications

• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations

• Managing food preparation and presentation to ensure consistent quality and visual appeal

• Collaborating with kitchen team members to ensure efficient service and timely meal preparation

• Following all food handling and safety protocols to protect customer health and well-being

• Assisting with menu development and suggesting creative culinary ideas where appropriate

• Operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining it in good working order

• Responding to customer feedback and making adjustments to maintain satisfaction

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen environment

• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations

• A solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, including relevant certifications

• Excellent knife skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure

• Ability to follow recipes precisely whilst maintaining consistency in quality

• Strong attention to detail with a focus on presentation and plating

• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

• Flexibility and adaptability to roster changes and peak service periods

• A passion for hospitality and commitment to customer satisfaction

• Preferred: Experience in a retail food service or supermarket deli environment
