At Stress Free Accounts, we do exactly what our name says. We look after small businesses, SMSFs, and individuals across Port Stephens and Newcastle, without the usual stress.

One of our long-term team members is heading into retirement, and we're looking for someone great to step into their shoes in our Medowie office. They've been a fantastic, trusted part of our team for years and we're after someone with that same warmth and "get it done" spirit to carry that on.

We'd love someone with plenty of experience, but we're just as keen to hear from the right person with 5+ years who's ready for the next step up.

The Role

We trust our senior accountants to genuinely own their work. You'll run your own portfolio of clients your way, backed by a Director and team who are always happy to jump in when you want them to. Plus we cover all your ongoing CPD costs, so you're always learning and improving.

You'll be doing the interesting stuff- complex tax returns, financial statements, business advisory, client relationship management, as well as mentoring our juniors and working closely with the Director on where the business is heading. There's real room to grow, too: build and manage your own client base, and enjoy our bonus structure to reward you for it.

We're keen to get someone started as soon as possible, so there's plenty of time for a proper handover and to meet the clients before our current team member heads off.

What we're looking for:

•       5+ years experience in public practice

•       Comfortable running a client list from start to finish

•       Familiar with our tech stack — Xero, Xero Practice Manager, Xero Tax, Xero Workpapers, and Claude (or keen to get up to speed)

•       Genuinely good with people — our clients are locals who love a real conversation, not just a set of numbers

•       Good grounding in complex tax scenarios — CGT, FBT, business structuring

•       Comfortable handling tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, partnerships and trusts

•       Takes real pride in getting the details right
