About the Role 

Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsible for providing commercial leadership and strategic analysis to support business performance and informed decision-making across Cunningham Cattle Company. 

Working closely with operational leaders, finance and key stakeholders, you will analyse financial and operational performance, develop commercial insights, prepare business cases and support strategic initiatives that enhance business outcomes. The role also provides commercial support for asset transactions, investment analysis and other strategic projects as required. 

This position is suited to someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with practical commercial outcomes and is comfortable working across both financial and operational aspects of the business. 

Key Responsibilities 

Livestock & Commercial Transactions 

• Manage livestock transaction processes, including cattle sales, purchases and inter-property transfers, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation. 
• Coordinate bull purchasing programs, tracking commitments against approved headcount and per-head pricing budgets. 
• Support agistment transactions, including data reconciliation and performance monitoring across external properties. 
• Provide commercial analysis and evaluation for significant livestock or asset transactions as they arise. 
• Maintain accurate transaction records to support financial reporting, board papers and audit requirements. 

Commercial Strategy & Business Performance 

• Analyse operational and financial performance to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement. 
• Develop business cases and commercial recommendations to support strategic decision-making. 
• Monitor business performance against budgets, forecasts and strategic objectives. 
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, profitability and business performance. 

Financial Analysis & Commercial Modelling 

• Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning and investment analysis. 
• Provide detailed commercial analysis for capital expenditure, operational initiatives and strategic projects. 
• Perform sensitivity analysis and assess commercial risks and opportunities. 
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes where required. 
• Manage recurring livestock data processes, and maintain closing livestock numbers and related reporting  

Contract & Agreement Management 

• Coordinate the review, drafting and management of commercial and contractor agreements across the business. 
• Liaise with external legal counsel to progress contract review and ensure agreements reflect commercial and operational requirements. 
• Maintain a central record of key agreements, renewal dates and obligations across properties. 
• Work with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. safety, operations) to ensure agreements incorporate all necessary requirements before execution. 

Reporting & Decision Support 

• Prepare executive reporting, commercial dashboards and presentations for senior leadership. 
• Provide timely analysis and recommendations to support business decisions. 
• Review completed projects and initiatives to evaluate outcomes and identify future opportunities. 
• Present complex financial and operational information in a clear and practical manner. 

Stakeholder Engagement 

• Build strong working relationships with operational leaders, finance teams and external advisors. 
• Partner with business leaders to understand operational challenges and provide commercial solutions. 
• Contribute to a collaborative culture that supports informed, evidence-based  
• decision-making. 

Procurement Coordination 

• Coordinate procurement processes for infrastructure and capital projects, including sourcing and comparing supplier quotes. 
• Develop supplier-agnostic specifications and materials lists to support competitive, transparent procurement. 
• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain accurate quotes and ensure scope is clearly communicated. 
• Support station managers in procurement decisions, balancing cost, quality and timing considerations. 

About You 

You are a commercially minded professional with the ability to analyse complex information, identify opportunities and influence sound business decisions. 

You will bring: 

• Demonstrated experience in commercial management, corporate finance, business analysis or a similar role. 
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capability. 
• Experience developing business cases, forecasts and executive reporting. 
• Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to balance financial, operational and strategic priorities. 
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
• Experience supporting strategic projects, asset transactions or investment activities will be highly regarded. 
• Qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
