The Department
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO), a unit of Alfred Cancer, provides a full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services in addition to some specialized services with both state and national significance. Services include external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy and superficial modalities. The department is equipped with a modern fleet of linear accelerators with surface guided and stereoscopic X-ray imaging, stereotactic capabilities and the ability to deliver VMAT, DIBH, EEBH and IGRT techniques. AHRO has sites located at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne (Alfred Radiation Oncology – ARO), at Latrobe Regional Hospital, Traralgon (Gippsland Radiation Oncology – GRO) and at Central Gippsland Health, Sale (Sale Radiation Oncology – SRO).
The Radiation Oncology Medical Physics (ROMP) team within the department provides technical and clinical support and expertise for these specialised treatments. The team also manages patient & staff radiation safety, new equipment assessment and commissioning, and the routine quality assurance programs associated with all clinical imaging and treatment delivery devices.
The Role
This is a fixed term 3 month position based at the ARO Campus (Melbourne).
The position is suitable for a newly certified Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist or recent Medical Physics graduate/PhD student.
The successful applicant may be required to take part in some shift work and to take on some on-call duties at the discretion of the Chief Physicist.
Position classification will be based on candidate's qualifications and experience.
