Guidance Officer (HO1) - Ripley Valley State School

Ripley Valley State School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled Guidance Officer to join our school community and support students to achieve positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes. This position is being offered in a Permanent Part-Time capacity (0.40FTE), 20 hours per fortnight.

About us:

The new Ripley Valley State School is based in the Providence Estate at South Ripley with approximately 750 students from Prep to Year 6. The school will cater to a diverse community made up of young and older families from varying backgrounds and cultures. Ripley Valley State School has three strong and vibrant histories; Indigenous, Farming and Mining. Each of these has been represented in the school uniform and logo. The colour of the brush cherry represents the Indigenous culture, green our farming and black our mining histories. The blue represents the sky which has been common across all histories, blending into navy representing our links with Ripley Valley State Secondary College. Our logo shows how an individual's actions can have a large impact creating a ripple effect. The ripple effect can be seen across the front and back of the school uniform and symbolises the school's hopes to have a strong and positive impact on the future of our students. Your opportunity:

• Provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes
• Collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.
• The role is for 2 days per week, but may increase in the future.

Responsibilities:

• Provide counselling, assessment and individual support to students, families and staff.
• Support students with educational, behavioural, mental health, social, emotional and career needs.
• Develop and manage individual student support plans, interventions and referrals.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, school staff and external agencies.
• Support student protection, behaviour management, risk management and critical incidents.
• Assist secondary students with SET planning, career development and future pathways.
• Provide support for students with complex and intensive behavioural needs.
• Maintain confidential records and comply with relevant policies, legislation and ethical requirements.
• Contribute to professional development and student wellbeing programs across the school.
