“Inside Out – when you start from the inside and work outward, magical things happen.”
Inside Out Therapy has three purpose-built clinics based on the northside of Brisbane, sharing our one big goal: providing quality and meaningful support to Neurodivergent children, teens and families to help each individual live an authentic and healthy life.
Our clinics are led by our very passionate Director and an amazing, dedicated team of therapists, offering a range of disciplines including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology, Counselling, and Allied Health services.
Adopting a family-centred and coaching approach, we tailor our services to the unique and diverse needs of our clients and pull strategies from various treatment frameworks such as Sensory Integration, Motor Skills Acquisition, Play Therapy, Routines Based Intervention, DIR Floortime, Trauma Informed Care, the PolyVagal Theory, and Neurodevelopmental Treatment.
Providing both centre-based and mobile services, Inside Out is committed to evidence based practice as well as quality and consistent care for clients as young as toddlers through to adolescence. We are a Neurodiverse Affirming service provider that empowers neurodivergent children and their families through respectful therapy services that celebrate Neurodiversity.
About the RoleInside Out is looking for a Children’s Counsellor to join our integrated model where parents and children can receive support from the same team. This is a part-time role (3 days / 22.8 hours per week) with the potential to build up to full time hours as the role grows and evolves. The role will be based out of our wonderful clinic in Kallangur and, for the right person, there is also scope for some community-based work.
In this role, you will:
Support a caseload of clients (through weekly or fortnightly appointments) offering play-based, relationship-focused and neurodiverse affirming approaches to enable each child to explore their identity, build their social emotional capacity and develop positive relationships
Engage children in play-based therapy to support trauma processing and working through barriers to emotional regulation in a play-space (rather than a small clinic room sitting at a desk).
Work closely with families on their therapy journey.
Support people to develop their capacity for improved emotional, attentional and sensory regulation.
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans for your clients.
Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure what you do in the clinic can be utilised in the child's everyday contexts.
Work harmoniously with a passionate and dedicated multi-disciplinary team made up of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Counsellors and Allied Health Assistants.
See no more than six clients per day, four days per week. Your day will be made up of appointments on the hour, 8am, 9am, 10am, 1pm, 2pm and 3:15pm - each appointment runs for 50 mins each. Leave each day no later than 4:30pm!
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and caregivers - you won't write endless reports you will be focused on therapy!
What We OfferA values-based organisation (founded, owned and run by an occupational therapist) which places our clients and their care at the centre of all that we do.
Flexibility with your caseload - hybrid parent support and working with children.
2 hours of non clinical time per day, 4 days per week (5th day is working from home or a Flexi Day off, giving you a 9-day fortnight).
State of the art facilities with endless resources: you will have your own therapy room with swings, rock walls and motivating games and equipment to ensure you are never stifled for creative games and ideas. Our little people LOVE coming to their sessions and they will love sessions with you.
Strong focus on Professional Development particularly around trauma, regulation, play-based and relationship based therapy - Professional Development budget of $2000 (minimum) for each team member.
Fortnightly in-service with our talented multidisciplinary team.
Continuous shadowing opportunities, working alongside other clinicians, lots of time to debrief and reflect so you have both the time and opportunities to continue to develop and grow as a therapist.
Fortnightly Supervision.
Incredible admin support so you can just focus on delivering amazing service to your clients.
Low KPIs and bonuses available if you bill over these.
Above award wages, with a focus on rewarding you for your consistency, efficiency and effectiveness in your role.
Work with our therapy dogs.
Our team loves coffee dates
You are our ideal candidate if you have:
A Counselling degree
Experience with and confidence in working with children, parents and families, whether that looks like being in a session with a child (playing with imaginative dragons and roaring loudly) or sitting down and having a coffee with Mum/Dad and hearing their thoughts and concerns and pathing a way together to support their child to be their best
A strong commitment to learning and growing as an individual and as a clinician through truly rewarding and complex work with children and families
A real passion for working with clients who are Neurodivergent, preferably with some experience in working with Autism, ADHD and/or trauma
A car and driver’s licence
A Queensland working with children check (blue card)
In addition you are:
Registered with the Australian Counselling Association
Adaptable and flexible in order to meet the needs and expectations of your client and to work as part of a collaborative team
Dedicated, fun and bubbly - and always prepared to bring your passion and imagination for working with children to work each day
