Define the future of AI-led performance marketing for the industry's ultimate challenger brand.You are stepping into an enterprise-level executive role with direct accountability for the commercial heartbeat of Auto & General (A&G)’s Budget Direct brand, Australia’s fastest-growing major Motor and Home insurer over the last 25 years.

Overseeing a very significant media investment, you will drive the strategic direction across Paid Search, SEO, GEO, Social and emerging AI-driven channels. You will be the commercial engine behind the Integrated Performance Marketing of Australia’s most award-winning insurance brand.

The Technical Leadership Edge
This is not a hands-on keyboard role, we already have a fiercely capable, highly specialised in-house team executing the day-to-day. However, to effectively lead this function, you cannot be a generalist.

We need an executive whose leadership is rooted in deep technical DNA. You possess the precise, in-the-weeds knowledge of complex PPC mechanics, algorithmic bidding, and the rapidly shifting AI performance landscape. You don't need to pull the levers, but your technical mastery is what allows you to challenge your experts, pressure-test media partners, and architect an AI-led strategy that keeps us ahead of industry disruption. You lead with vision, but you govern with technical authority and will not be daunted by the size of our ambition and competitive nature.

Key Responsibilities

• Command Enterprise Investment: Hold commercial accountability for one of the country's most significant performance media budgets, directly shaping the primary acquisition pipeline for the business.
• Pioneer AI Disruption: Lead the aggressive evolution from traditional search and SEO architecture to AI-optimised ecosystems and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), positioning the business to capitalise on fundamental shifts in consumer search behaviour.
• Maximise Platform Partnerships: Master the strategic chessboard with Google, Meta, Microsoft, TikTok and OpenAi at the highest executive levels. You will help negotiate investment and partnership terms that dictate our competitive advantage.
• Architect Strategic Governance: Set the overarching strategic direction and risk frameworks across all paid and organic channels, acting as the executive owner for compliance in a highly regulated financial services environment.
• Elevate High-Performance Talent: Unify a team of deep channel specialists. Your mandate is to set a razor-sharp strategic direction, clear the path of obstacles, and extract the absolute best from a technically brilliant in-house team.

About You
You're a genuine people leader first, someone who can bring together and elevate an already brilliant team.You'll also bring:

• Extensive experience in senior marketing leadership, including significant time operating at GM, Director or Head of level within a large, well-known finance / consumer business.
• Direct, proven accountability for a substantial paid digital media investment across integrated channels, at a scale genuinely comparable to this remit.
• Experience operating at executive or board level, comfortable negotiating, influencing and representing a function in front of senior leadership.
• A strong governance and risk mindset, ideally shaped by time in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment.
• Genuine curiosity and adaptability around AI and emerging channels, with the appetite to move quickly as the landscape shifts.
• A collaborative, developmental leadership style that gets the best out of strong, established teams.
