About the role
At AA Semi Trailer Trading, we have a great opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our business in our workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy diesel vehicles, trailers and associated equipment.
Diagnose and repair faults in diesel engines, transmission, driveline components, hydraulic systems, braking systems, suspension systems and pneumatic systems.
Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance and mechanical inspections to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble diesel engines, engine assemblies, transmissions and other mechanical components.
Test, diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems using specialised diagnostic equipment.
Ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures and industry standards.
Perform wheel bearing servicing, adjustment of brakes and brake system repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Remove, repair or replace defective or worn parts, including brakes, wheel bearings, tyres, suspension components and steering systems.
Complete service reports, repair documentation and other job-related records accurately and in a timely manner.
Work independently and collaboratively to ensure servicing and repair work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Conduct safety inspections and identify mechanical defects requiring repair or replacement.
Carry out oil changes, lubrication, tune ups and other scheduled maintenance activities.
Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
Liaise with supervisors and other workshop personnel regarding vehicle faults, repair requirements and maintenance schedules.
Requirements:
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
Minimum 3 years' experience working on heavy vehicles.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a busy workshop.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
Assist technicians in the services and repairs on trailers
Ensure WHS standards are upheld and work environment kept organised and tidy
