About the role
Leading Hand Mowing (Ref: 1251)
About the position:
Join the City of Greater Geraldton’s Maintenance Operations in this key leadership position. Our Reserves Team maintains the City’s public open spaces throughout the seasons, and the Leading Hand Mowing assists the supervisor with planning and delivering works programs and projects, ensures all team members are appropriately trained, and provides initiative and guidance in the completion of all daily activities.
Key accountabilities:
• Provide a high standard of daily maintenance in the City’s parks, ovals, reserves and other public open spaces including turf renovation, fertilising, mowing, slashing and all facets of turf care.
• Coordinate materials and equipment for use by the team, ensure safe and competent operation, and ensure regular routine daily maintenance and pre-start are carried out and documented.
• Complete all work, and ensure all work undertaken by the team is to a high standard and within budget and agreed timeframes.

Position requirements:
• MR Class Driver’s Licence, White Construction Safety Card
• Demonstrated comprehensive experience in reserves maintenance and turf management, ideally complemented by a Certificate IV qualification or industry training in a relevant field
• Experience in the safe operation of tractors and commercial mowers with three point and PTO driven implements
• Demonstrated attention to detail and an awareness of working in high profile areas
• Ability to communicate effectively and use IT hardware such as smart phone and tablet applications
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary ranging from $82,422 per annum or $41.71 per hour to $86,882 per annum or $43.96 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
