Corporate Accountant

This role is to provide high quality financial and management reporting, analysis and interpretation of results, accounting excellence and other financial support at group level.

External Reporting and Financial Management

• Accurate and timely preparation of shareholder reporting, including In-Month Forecast, Quick Pack and SASAC Pack, for entities / groups within SPIC Pacific Energy consolidated group.
• Proactive analysis and interpretation of the monthly results, including meaningful variance analysis and business focused performance commentary.
• Assist in the preparation and collating of the business unit annual reporting packages and provide appropriate feedback where required .
• Assist in the development and implementation of group accounting policies, reporting systems and processes.
• Assist in the year-end audit process, ensuring issues arising from the audit process are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Support and provide data for corporate model and debt covenant compliance certificates.

Accounting

• Assist in the research of accounting standards for use in supporting the group’s accounting positions .
• Assist in the maintenance of lease model, performance of lease accounting, and reporting of actual, budget and forecast positions .
• Preparation of month-end journal entries, including but not limited to group consolidation eliminations, lease and debt facility accounting, and assist in the preparation of hedge accounting journals, and support the maintenance of the models.
• Reconciliation of general ledger accounts as allocated on the reconciliations register .
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a robust system governing the creation of new entities, general ledger accounts, profit centres, cost centres, and intercompany relationships .
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a reporting system for compliance obligations.
• Other ad-hoc projects and tasks as required within the Group Reporting function.

Controls and governance

• Assist in the development and maintenance of a robust system governing the creation of new entities, general ledger accounts, profit centres, cost centres, and intercompany relationships.
• Ensure that the company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed and kept up-to-date with particular focus on the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the company’s Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time).

Others

• Preparation of weekly cash flow true-up and analysis, and four-week rolling cash flow forecast.
• Assist in the preparation, consolidation, analysis and reporting of annual budget for the Pacific Hydro Australia Group, Pacific Hydro Chile Group, and the shareholder SPVs.

• Maximise the systems performance to meet timely reporting and business requirements
• Maximise the use of the systems to deliver operations efficiencies
• Supporting the business growth and the integration of new business and projects
• Engaging with international offices across time-zones and languages

• Determine the applicability of accounting standards to business transactions.
• Effectively determine when to escalate issues.
• Understand team objectives and prioritise work to best meet those objectives.
• Ability to determine adequacy of own work and the depth of research and analysis required.
• Anticipate queries from financial information users and prepare logical and concise explanations.

Knowledge and experience:   

• Accounting degree qualified
• CA/CPA or equivalent qualified
• Good understanding of the key components of the management and statutory reporting processes in Australia
• Good knowledge and understanding of accounting standards
• Basic knowledge of Australian tax laws
• SAP and BPC experience
• Power BI experience will be highly regarded
