Payroll Officer

About the Role

Join our payroll team at Summit Homes Group and play a key role in keeping payroll running smoothly across the Group.

It's a varied, hands-on role spanning the full payroll cycle, processing pays, new starter paperwork, journals, and end-of-month, plus PAYG, superannuation, child support, and Centrelink reconciliations. You'll also get into our commissions and retainer processing, much of which lives in Excel, so you'll need to be confident with spreadsheets.

It's an exciting time to come on board: we're about to implement a new payroll system, so you'll have a real chance to help shape and streamline how we work.

We're open to your level of payroll experience, what matters most is sharp attention to detail, a curious mind, and a genuine interest in building a career in payroll. If you've got a solid all-round accounts background and the right attitude, we'll train you on the rest.

This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis to suit the right applicant. If you're looking for part-time, please include your preferred hours in your cover letter.

About You

You're detail-oriented, reliable, and genuinely interested in payroll. You take pride in accuracy, ask questions, and like getting things right. You're confident with Excel (or a fast learner), comfortable juggling priorities to hit deadlines, and you handle confidential information with discretion. A solid all-round accounts 

background sets you up well, and any knowledge of payroll practices, legislation, or awards is a bonus.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Some experience in an accounts, finance, or payroll role, with a keen interest in growing your payroll skills
• Strong attention to detail and an inquisitive, problem-solving mindset
• Excellent Excel skills, or the ability to pick them up fast
• Strong communication skills and a professional, approachable manner
• Experience with Payroll Metrics (desirable)
