Holy Cross Parish is seeking a faith-filled Pastoral Associate to collaborate closely with the Parish Priest in the broad pastoral care of the parish community.

This is a unique opportunity to serve at the heart of parish life — accompanying parishioners across liturgy, faith formation, sacramental preparation, and outreach — and to help build a welcoming, missionary community.

Position:

Pastoral Associate – Full-Time (38 hrs/week)

Some evening and weekend work required.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Serve as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, and participate fully in parish staff meetings.

2.     Work with the music and liturgy team to plan Sunday and seasonal liturgies; coordinate and train liturgical ministers.

3.     Maintain a visible presence at one or more weekend Masses and parish events, fostering relationships across the various groups within the parish.

4.     Coordinate RCIA and adult confirmation programs — recruiting, forming, and supporting team members.

5.     Coordinate sacramental preparation (Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation) in team with the school and catechists

6.     Promote and support activities for the parish youth group.

7.     Foster parish engagement with parish school families and work in partnership with the Family Educator and the Religious Education Coordinator (REC) on the sacramental program, school Masses, and children’s liturgy.

8.     Develop parish outreach and welcome — engaging new parishioners and reaching out to lapsed or inactive members of the community.

9.     In the priest’s absence, act as his delegate in parish pastoral functions and help provide direction to parish staff.

Prerequisites:

•      Valid driver’s licence

•      Current (or eligible for) NSW Working with Children Check

•      Current (or eligible for) Australian Criminal History Check

•      Completion of the Archdiocese of Sydney safeguarding training (or willingness to complete upon appointment)

Remuneration:

The Parish offers remuneration of approximately $75,000–$95000 per annum plus superannuation (negotiable), depending on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the Miscellaneous Award 2020.
