PLC is a Uniting Church school catering for approximately 1000 day and boarding students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Summary:

We are seeking applications from experienced teachers and graduates for this part-time 0.7FTE Teacher of Home Economics with the ability to teach both Food Science and Textiles and Design. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality middle and senior years education in accordance with curriculum requirements. The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated and committed team and play a key role in shaping the future of our students and promoting a passion for food science and textiles and design.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging and innovative lesson plans that meet food science curriculum requirements
• Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration through differentiation.
• Maintain current knowledge of the latest trends and developments in food science and textiles and design education.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to co-curricula activities and events.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student performance and curriculum updates.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Appropriate teaching qualifications and eligibility for registration with TRBWA.
• Demonstrated experience teaching Food Science/Textiles and Design across all secondary years and ability to teach ATAR food science is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that support student wellbeing and achievement.
• High level interpersonal, student engagement and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Experience teaching textiles will be well regarded.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong proficiency in the use of contemporary digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
