Senior Manager Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs

As a Senior Manager Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs at Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ), you'll play a leading role in shaping and strengthening mental health and wellbeing services across a diverse region spanning the Sunshine Coast to Central Queensland.

In this strategic role, you'll work with government, service providers, people with lived and living experience, and other key stakeholders to design, commission and continuously improve services that make a real difference. Using data, evidence and community insights, you'll help ensure people can access the right support, at the right time, whether that's early intervention, psychosocial support, suicide prevention, youth mental health services, or more complex, coordinated care.

This position may be based at any of our offices located in Maroochydore, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, or Rockhampton, with flexibility to determine the preferred location for the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, coordination and delivery of mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and suicide prevention reform programs and projects across the region in collaboration with partner agencies, clinicians, communities and people with lived and living experience.

• Manage a program portfolio with discipline in work planning, prioritisation, resourcing, risk management and delivery against agreed outcomes, milestones and contractual requirements.

• Undertake and apply data analysis, literature reviews, evidence synthesis and interpretation of regional service, activity, outcomes, needs assessment and commissioning data to generate timely, actionable insights that inform system and service planning, investment prioritisation, commissioning design and performance improvement.

• Work with CCQ’s Data and Analytics team to apply specialist analysis to portfolio planning and commissioning decisions, while maintaining clear accountability for translating evidence into practical program advice and action.

• Coordinate service transition, commissioning and recommissioning activity for existing and new services, ensuring processes are evidence-informed, person-centred, culturally safe and aligned to community need.

• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate innovative services and models of care that improve integration, reduce fragmentation and support stepped care across the CCQ footprint.

• Build and maintain productive relationships with government, clinical, provider, community and internal stakeholders to support integrated planning, service improvement and reform implementation.

• Apply contemporary knowledge of national and Queensland mental health, alcohol and other drugs, suicide prevention, community health and primary care systems to inform commissioning, service design and pathway development.

• Lead, support and develop team members, fostering accountability, collaboration, cultural safety, continuous improvement and high performance.

• Complete other reasonable duties as required.

Key Selection Criteria

• Qualifications and Sector Knowledge
  Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience, with sound knowledge of mental health, alcohol and other drugs, suicide prevention, stepped care, health system reform and commissioned service delivery.

• Program Design, Evaluation and Data Analysis
  Demonstrated experience designing, managing, monitoring and evaluating health or community service programs. Ability to analyse and interpret service, performance and outcomes data, undertake evidence reviews, and use findings to inform service planning, commissioning, program improvement and decision-making.

• Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
  Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex programs and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment. Proven experience building strong partnerships and working effectively with government, healthcare providers, community organisations and people with lived and living experience.

• Communication and Professional Practice
  Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and engage diverse stakeholders. Demonstrates sound judgement, accountability, resilience and a commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused and culturally safe practice, aligned with CCQ's values.
