We're currently seeking an experienced Director, Wholesale Non-Financial Risk to join our Wholesale Banking team in Sydney. This is a senior Line 1 Operational Risk and Compliance leadership role, providing strategic risk and compliance advice across Rabobank's Wholesale Banking business in Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Director, Wholesale Non-Financial Risk & Control, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders and play a critical role in strengthening risk culture, governance and control environments across Wholesale Banking.

You will partner closely with teams across Corporate Banking, Portfolio Management, Project Finance, Energy Transition, Markets, Value Chain Finance and Sustainable Business Development, helping the business safely achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining a strong focus on operational risk and regulatory compliance.

This is an influential role for a highly experienced risk and compliance professional who enjoys collaborating with senior stakeholders, solving complex challenges and driving meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and ongoing execution of Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and Compliance Management Framework (CMF) requirements across Wholesale Banking.

• Partner with business leaders to assess, monitor and maintain operational risk and compliance profiles.

• Provide expert advice on risk management, governance, controls and compliance obligations.

• Support risk and control assessments, key control testing and remediation activities.

• Manage compliance incidents and breach assessments, including regulatory notifications where required.

• Coordinate product and channel risk assessments.

• Prepare and contribute to monthly risk reporting and governance forums.

• Partner with Line 2 Risk and Compliance teams to ensure effective risk oversight and regulatory reporting.

• Act as Privacy Champion, Complaints Coordinator and Records Coordinator for Wholesale Banking.

• Build strong, trusted relationships across the business and influence a positive risk culture.

What You'll Bring

Experience

• 10+ years' experience within banking and financial services risk and compliance environments.

• Proven experience in a Line 1 Operational Risk and Compliance role.

• Strong exposure to Wholesale, Institutional or Corporate Banking.

• Demonstrated success partnering with senior stakeholders and business leaders.

• Experience managing risk frameworks, governance activities, regulatory obligations and incident management.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of the Australian banking regulatory environment.

• Knowledge of wholesale banking products, operations and processes.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.

• Ability to work independently while driving collaboration across multiple teams.

• Highly organised with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and deliver in a complex environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Economics, Law or a related discipline.

• Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
