The Opportunity

Contract: 3 months, with potential to extend

Hybrid, Melbourne

Our client is growing their security and observability capability and we are looking for a Splunk Engineer consultant to help make it run cleanly. You'll own alert configuration, integrations, and data onboarding — working closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams so the environment stays visible and detections stay reliable.

This is a good next step if you've got solid Splunk fundamentals and want to build deeper SIEM and integration experience in a real enterprise environment.

What you'll do

• Configure, maintain, and tune Splunk alerts and event-based detections
• Build and support integrations between Splunk and platforms including ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, email notification systems, security tools, and custom APIs
• Onboard new log sources and manage data inputs, forwarders, and parsers
• Tune alerts to cut false positives and lift detection quality
• Build dashboards and support reporting needs
• Troubleshoot ingestion, alerting, and integration issues
• Test and validate new use cases and integrations
• Document technical processes and operational procedures
• Work alongside senior engineers and stakeholders to land project outcomes

What you'll bring

• Splunk experience
• Solid understanding of Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud
• Experience building and managing alerts and scheduled searches
• Working knowledge of SPL
• Experience with APIs, webhooks, or automation-based integrations
• Understanding of log management and SIEM concepts
• Good troubleshooting instincts and clear communication
