About the role
Market Forces campaigns to protect the environment by shifting finance away from fossil fuels that are driving global climate change. We focus on banks, superannuation funds and other investors that finance environmentally risky and damaging activities. Shifting investment to a clean energy revolution is needed to secure a stable climate in the long term.
Our team campaigns on the most egregious examples of fossil fuel polluters in Australia, Asia and beyond - wherever our interventions can create the greatest impact.
Our work is grounded in a shared commitment to Empowerment, Integrity, Impact and Creativity as our core values.
Associate Analysts contribute to research projects that ensure Market Forces’ campaigns are informed and supported by credible and compelling research and analysis that strengthens the organisation’s ability to drive environmental impact.
The Market Forces Research team delivers rigorous research outputs focused on defined corporate fossil fuel developers and /or financial institutions investing in fossil fuel projects. This research underpins high impact advocacy campaigns to engage and influence key stakeholders and help protect the environment by stopping proposed fossil fuel projects.
Under guidance from the Company Analyst, the Associate Analyst contributes to establishing and documenting an evidence base through disciplined analysis that underpins Market Forces’ campaign strategies. The Associate Analyst participates in working groups of campaigners, other research and communications team members collaborating to plan and coordinate research required to deliver campaigns that meet agreed objectives and timelines.
You love, and have a track record of, taking rich, detailed and complex information and turning it into clear, well-communicated, engaging analysis. You enjoy scrutinising corporate disclosures to see past the obvious and find the real story. You'll be a great teammate, supporting your colleagues to complete research that the whole team needs, and can scrutinise your colleagues' work, leading to constructive feedback and a constant process of learning and improvement.
Above all else, you want to take powerful, long-lasting action to combat climate change and keep this planet habitable for humanity.
