Assistant Category Buyer - Menswear - 12 Month Max Term Contract @ Fashion Ecommerce

The Commercial team combines data, customer insight and trend forecasting to shape what's next in fashion. Working closely with Planning, the Category Buying team curates customer-first ranges that drive sales, maximise profitability and keep the business ahead of the market.We're looking for an Assistant Category Buyer to join the Menswear team on a 12-month maximum-term contract. Supporting the Category Buyer, you'll help deliver the department's commercial strategy by managing supplier relationships, analysing performance, coordinating product delivery and contributing to category growth.
About the RoleSupport the Category Buyer in delivering the category strategy, vision and budget.Assist with sourcing and procurement across the category.Monitor inventory levels alongside the Buying team to maintain healthy stock positions.Support the Category Administrator in resolving order, invoice and delivery issues.Communicate directly with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries and account queries.Analyse sales and market data to identify trends and commercial opportunities.Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.Evaluate supplier performance and support vendor onboarding and offboarding activities.Negotiate commercial terms across wholesale and platform partnerships.Identify supply chain issues through regular quality assurance reviews.Partner with internal teams to ensure timely product delivery.Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant industry requirements.Maintain accurate vendor administration and documentation.Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience through commercial insights.Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Marketing, Vendor Management, Operations and Finance.
What It Takes2+ years' experience as an Assistant Buyer in a high-volume retail environment.Strong communication and negotiation skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability.Strong organisational and time management skills.Experience using Excel; exposure to Jira, BI, BC and API integrations is advantageous.Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.Adaptable, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
