Furnace Solutions is a specialist contractor delivering maintenance, shutdown, demolition, and project execution services to the mining and minerals processing industry. Furnace Solutions is seeking an experienced Demolition Superintendent to join our team and support the delivery and continued development of our demolition capability across Australia and internationally.
The role is based from our Adelaide office and requires regular travel to project sites, including Port Pirie, Whyalla and Olympic Dam.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations (SA), the Demolition Superintendent will have responsibility for the safe planning, supervision and execution of demolition works, while managing day-to-day client relationships and project requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced Civil/Demolition Supervisor, Superintendent or Civil Engineer with strong structural demolition experience and a background delivering complex civil, construction, mining or heavy industrial projects.
The successful candidate will provide visible field leadership, support project teams from planning through execution and help build Furnace Solutions’ demolition capability across current and future projects.
Lead the safe planning and execution of structural and industrial demolition works.
Develop and execute engineered demolition methodologies from planning through to delivery.
Review and manage demolition sequencing, temporary works, structural stability and plant loading requirements.
Provide visible, field-based leadership to Supervisors, employees and contractors.
Ensure demolition activities are undertaken in accordance with approved methodologies, project requirements and safety controls.
Coordinate labour, plant, equipment and resources required for demolition activities.
Work closely with project teams, engineers and clients to identify and manage demolition-related risks.
Monitor project progress, quality, safety and productivity against agreed plans.
Maintain effective day-to-day relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Support project planning, scheduling and problem-solving throughout execution.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed and controlled.
Assist in developing Furnace Solutions’ demolition capability, systems and execution standards across Australia and internationally.
Demonstrated experience in structural demolition within civil, construction, mining or heavy industrial environments.
Experience developing and executing engineered demolition methodologies.
Strong knowledge of temporary works, structural stability, demolition sequencing and plant loading.
Proven experience supervising personnel and safely delivering complex site-based works.
Strong commitment to WHS and practical safety leadership.
Engineering or trade qualification with relevant Civil/Construction supervision experience preferred.
Building Work Contractor’s Licence or ability to satisfy relevant contractor/supervisor licensing requirements across Australian jurisdictions.
Relevant high-risk work licences as required.
Current Australian driver’s licence.
National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
Appropriate working rights in Australia.
Sound computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate project documentation.
Civil Engineering qualification.
Experience delivering major civil projects involving tunnels, bridges, industrial infrastructure or similar structures.
Mining, minerals processing, smelting, shutdown or heavy industrial experience.
Experience with complex or high-risk demolition projects.
Experience working across multiple Australian jurisdictions.
International project experience.
Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capability.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, engineers, Supervisors, employees and other project stakeholders.
