Student Coordinator

• Part time, ongoing role (0.5 – 0.6FTE)
• Salary commensurate with experience: $76,248 - $80,923 per annum, pro rata plus super

The role

CERA is seeking a Student Coordinator to support the delivery of our student and research education programs. Working closely with the Research Education Lead, you will play a key role in coordinating the University of Melbourne Research Higher Degree (RHD) student journey within the Department of Surgery (Ophthalmology), as well as a range of CERA student initiatives.

You will be involved across the student lifecycle, supporting students from their initial enquiry and application through to candidature and completion. This includes coordinating administration for Honours, Master of Biomedical Science, graduate research and visiting students, as well as providing guidance and support to students and supervisors throughout their CERA experience.

The role also has responsibility for several CERA-wide student initiatives, including student travel grants, information sessions and the Hector Maclean Summer Scholarship. You will coordinate student events and seminars, support scholarship and studentship processes, and work with colleagues across CERA and the University of Melbourne to ensure students receive a seamless and positive experience.

As a key contact for students, supervisors and University stakeholders, you will bring a strong customer service focus and contribute to improving the way CERA supports its student community.

Your skills and experience

• A relevant degree or post-secondary qualification, together with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience in administration, with strong organisational skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the maturity to provide advice and support when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters.
• The initiative to work independently, manage competing priorities and solve problems effectively.
• Strong customer service skills and a genuine commitment to creating a positive experience for students.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• An understanding of the higher education environment or experience working within a university setting would be advantageous.

This role would suit a proactive and highly organised administrator who is confident working independently while building positive and collaborative relationships with students, academics and professional services teams.
