Motor Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team in Tullamarine. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of vehicles across different makes and models.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools

• Inspect engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and drivetrain components to identify faults and defects

• Carry out servicing and preventive maintenance on passenger and commercial vehicles

• Perform engine oil and filter changes and other routine maintenance services

• Repair and replace worn or defective mechanical components and vehicle parts

• Carry out brake and clutch inspections, repairs and component replacements

• Perform transmission servicing, repairs and component replacements as required

• Diagnoses and repair suspension, steering, and drivetrain-related faults

• Perform engine repairs and engine replacement work in accordance with manufacturer specifications

• Carry out tyre fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment services where required

• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical components and assemblies

• Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper operation, safety and performance

• Use manufacturer service manuals, technical specifications and diagnostic information when required

• Conduct detailed vehicle inspections to identify maintenance and repair requirements

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and servicing undertaken

• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard of workmanship

Skills & Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Motor Mechanic

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

• Experience with vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance

• Experience in engine, transmission, brake, clutch, suspension and steering repairs

• Ability to use computerized automotive diagnostic equipment

• Ability to inspect, repair, replace and reassemble vehicle components

• Good understanding of automotive mechanical systems and repair procedures

• Ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication, problem-solving and time-management skills

• Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV in a related field

• Applicants with at least three years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
