Policy OfficerPart-time – 21 hours per week | Tuesday to Thursday Office-basedAbout UsThe NSW Family Day Care Association promotes, supports and advocates for Family Day Care and In Home Care across NSW. We provide resources, support and advocacy to members while working to strengthen the profile and recognition of Family Day Care and In Home Care within the community and the sectorAbout the RoleWe are seeking a passionate, analytical and highly organised Policy Officer to join our team and contribute to policy development, advocacy and stakeholder engagement across the sector.Reporting to the CEO, the Policy Officer will support NSWFDCA's policy, advocacy and sector engagement activities. The role will monitor emerging policy and regulatory issues, provide research and analysis, and assist in developing evidence-based submissions and resources that represent the interests of Family Day Care and In Home Care services and educators.
Key ResponsibilitiesResearch, analyse and review policy, regulatory, reforms and legislative developments affecting Family Day Care, In Home Care and the early childhood education and care sector.Research policy issues and prepare briefing papers, submissions, position papers, reports and recommendations.Support the CEO and leadership team with policy advice, research and briefing materials.Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, sector bodies, members and other key stakeholders.Coordinate member consultation, surveys and feedback to identify emerging issues and inform advocacy priorities.Collect, analyse and present data and sector insights to support evidence-based policy development.Develop and review member resources, fact sheets, guidance materials and other policy-related communications.Keep members informed about relevant policy, regulatory and sector developments.Contribute to advocacy campaigns and initiatives that promote the interests and sustainability of Family Day Care and In Home CareMaintain accurate records of policy matters, consultations, submissions and stakeholder engagement.Identify emerging issues and opportunities that may impact NSWFDCA members and the broader sector.Essential Criteria:A relevant degree in Policy, Public Policy, Government, Political Science, Law, Education, Communications or a related fieldMinimum 2 years' experienceExperience in policy development, research, advocacy or stakeholder engagement, preferably within the not-for-profit, government or early childhood sector.Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality policy submissions, briefing papers, reports and written recommendations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong policy drafting skillsAbility to interpret legislation, regulations, government policies and consultation papers.Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.Desirable: Understanding of the Early Childhood Education and Care sectorKnowledge of Registered Training Organisation (RTOs)Knowledge of the non-profit sector
